Asylum seekers, refugees and volunteers have been involved in renovating the gardens behind St Anne's. These are now used for relaxing, barbecues. See pictures

The Allotments (a report)

There has been plenty of growth coming on at the allotment despite loosing more people as the dispersal system moves them on. Several people have visited the allotment to have a go but we remain with a core of 4 people doing the bulk of the work. However this may change now that we have started using the produce.  First to be picked were the cabbages brought on in the poly tunnel. Despite being brought on in an almost tropical environment, they stayed solid and compact and were almost sweet when first cut. They were mostly given to Asylum Seeker service users and volunteers although we used one to make coleslaw for the annual volunteer get together.

Other items now in use at the allotment are potatoes, onions, garlic and salad
leaves. All are brought back and used at the centre or given to our Asylum Seekers. In particular people enjoy the raspberries, of which there are few, but they are extremely good and are handed around in the kitchen – a good conversation starter. In the coming weeks, red currents and gooseberries will be ready.
